Fantastic news regarding £150,000 funding of the new 3G pitch by Uttlesford District Council!

Thanks to everyone involved in securing the funds - see you on the pitch!!MAJOR 3G AGP FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT!

UDC AWARDS £150,000 TOWARDS “WORLD CLASS” SPORTS PITCH PROJECT

Uttlesford District Council Cabinet has awarded a grant of £150,000 to Saffron Walden Community Football Club (SWCFC) towards our project to deliver a 3G artificial grass pitch.

Construction of the new £1.1m pitch, at Saffron Walden County High School (SWCHS), will commence in the Easter holidays and is scheduled to be completed in August. Enabling works including site clearance have been completed this week.

The decision to support the project was agreed unanimously by the council’s Cabinet at its latest meeting on 9 February.

Cllr Alexander Armstrong, UDC Portfolio Holder for Sports, said:

“We are delighted to be able to provide the funds needed to enable the 3G pitch build to get underway. This is an exciting project for the community and one that will be beneficial to many people of all ages for years to come.”

Matt Clare, SWCFC Secretary, said:

“This incredible UDC grant is the final piece in the jigsaw and enables us to get started on the delivery of this desperately needed facility right away. This is a genuine community project and our partnership with SWCHS will ensure that hundreds of girls and boys will get to play football on a world class pitch every week.

We’re so grateful to UDC for backing the project with this very significant grant award. We can’t wait to get started.”

The construction work will be undertaken by TigerTurf UK Ltd and McArdle Sport-Tec Ltd, specialist contractors approved by the Football Foundation who are providing the majority of the funding. The pitch will be tested before handover to ensure that it meets the exacting FA/FIFA standards.

The UDC grant for the 3G project is part of a wider £450,000 grants programme being made available by the Council over three years to support larger-scale sports projects across the District. The purpose is to enable projects that increase community involvement and participation. Details of the 2021/22 scheme will be announced shortly.

The latest message from Veronica Kane Dickson our Covid-19 Officer

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear SW PSG FC community,
We have unfortunately now entered another period of time in which grassroots sports are suspended in England effective today, January 5th. This means that once again all in-person SW PSG FC activities including training and matches are cancelled until further notice. We sincerely hope that we'll be able to resume our sessions at the end of the lockdown period sometime in February, and will contact you again when any updates are available. The football association (The FA) has issued a statement (found here https://www.thefa.com/news/2021/jan/04/covid-19-update-20200401). If you have any other questions please get in touch with your team's manager.
We would like to thank all of our coaches and volunteers for their efforts in 2020 to keep football going, and for the players who brought us uplifting smiles and hard work on some very wet and muddy pitches. Throughout these unusual circumstances we'll be aiming to keep our teams connected as much as possible and looking for ways to engage with the players. Thank you all for your support.
Best wishes,
Veronica
COVID 19 - GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL UPDATE
An email has been sent to all our Registered Members and Coaches and the text from this is set out in the images below.
Essentially, there are NO LEAGUE MATCHES on the weekend of 2nd and 3rd January, 2021. But we are permitted to continue with training sessions or PSG vs PSG friendly games, provided that we strictly follow our Covid-19 protocols and there is no travel out of our immediate area of Uttlesford or into the area from those outside of Uttlesford. Managers will be in touch with parents if they are planning a session this coming weekend.
We're expecting further instructions from our County Football Association and the various leagues our teams play in, early next week which should cover training and matches from 4th January onwards.
In the meantime - please #staysafe everyone.
